Niability

Kat Gillett doing what she loves most. "My desire to continually deepen my Niability is fueled by my fascination --- in equal measure --- of the form and the spirit of Nia."

I am a recovering couch potato.

It’s true.  But at 55 years old,  I am now in the best physical condition of my life. I got here by first discovering Nia – and then diving into its physical technique. But what my exploration awoke in me was a full appreciation of the power of the “spirit” of Nia. I now believe that aspect of Nia is as important, if not more so, than the physical aspect in helping me attain my fitness and wellness goals. Hell, I keep throwing old goals out so I can set the bar higher — to levels I thought were impossible for me!

Here’s a bit more about me: I’ve been an avid Nia mover since 2005. For the past 4 years, I have practiced Nia 7-14 times a week. In the winter of 2007,  I began researching what would become “Niability: The Nine Movement Forms.” I later earned my White Belt in 2009, my Green Belt in the Winter of that year, my Blue Belt in 2010, and my Brown Belt in 2011.

I still enjoy going to class as a student, so I can freely practice the form and spirit of The Nia Technique that I’ve been learning.  I deeply enjoy the discipline of perfecting the form of Nia and the expansion I feel from sincerely practicing the “spirit” of Nia.
